Hushlantern Games ("we") makes games for kids, teens and adults, so we try to collect as little as possible and explain it plainly. This notice covers this website and our waitlist. The game itself will have its own children's privacy policy when it launches publicly.
What we collect
Browsing this site: nothing personal. The site uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers. Our web host (GitHub Pages) and font provider (Google Fonts) receive standard technical information such as your IP address when your browser loads the page, as any website host does.
Joining the waitlist: only what you type in:
- your email address
- optionally, who will play (age bands such as "Ages 8–10", "Me" or "My class"). We don't ask for any child's name, age or details.
- your country (US, Canada or elsewhere) and the language of the page
- the date you signed up and your confirmation that you're 18 or older
Why we collect it
To email you about the launch of Inspector Wren's Casebook and, if you ticked "My class", about classroom use. Knowing roughly who will play helps us decide which worlds and languages to finish first. We won't send other marketing without asking first.
Who can see it
Only the Hushlantern team. The waitlist is stored with our database provider, Supabase, which processes it for us under its data processing terms. Anyone can add themselves to the list, but nobody outside our team can read it. We don't sell, rent or share your information with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Until launch and for up to 12 months after, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Every launch email includes a way to unsubscribe.
Children
This website and waitlist are for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 here. If you think a child has joined the waitlist, email us and we'll delete the entry. Inside the game, children play under a nickname, and players under 13 need a parent's permission. Read more in our parents' guide.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you at any time by writing to hello@hushlantern.com. Depending on where you live (for example California, or Canada under PIPEDA), you may have further rights, and we'll honor them.
